The Windy
City Slickers made their debut in 1981 as the small men’s ensemble of Windy
City Gay Chorus. Through the years, they have come into their own and become
known throughout the country as Chicago's very own pop/doo-wop/a-capella gay
men's ensemble. These guys know how to have fun and sound great doing it!
The Windy
City Slickers are comprised of members of Windy City Gay Chorus and Unison:
Windy City Lesbian and Gay Singers, as well as members of the LGBT community
at large. Windy City Slickers strive to achieve musical harmony
through rich harmonies, vocal stylings, and poking fun at everything from
today's hot topics to gay life in general.
In 1999,
Windy City Slickers released their first solo album Sunday to rave reviews.
The Slickers continue to be a highly sought-after group, performing at
many popular events throughout the Chicagoland area.
In the
Spring of 2005, WGN radio’s Kathy & Judy featured the Slickers at their
annual “The Kathy and Judy Convention” at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. The
group’s performance was given rave reviews by Kathy & Judy: “…They sent
us on our way with some of the most cleverly-written, side-splittingly funny
and touching songs we've ever heard.”
The Windy
City Slickers are currently on hiatus.
